OH MY GOD THAT WAS FANTASTIC!
Act I is finished and it’s been a really exciting performance so far. Polenzani is a real virtuoso, and it shows in this performance.
It took a few minutes for everyone to warm up so far, but the best singing so far is by Ambrogio Maestri, who navigated “Udite, Udite, O Rustici” with easy and technique. Bravo to him.
Netrebko’s voice is so big I feel like she may have slightly miscast. Its arguable that Adina is a soubrette, and Netrebko’s voice is past that.
The Met chorus isn’t in tip top shape this evening, but the orchestra under Maurizio Benini is fantastic and he was %100 the right choice for this performance. The highlight of the performance also has been the ensembles between singers.
Short post! See you at the end of the performance!
